The ideal candidate will be an experienced Cost Engineer/Estimator with a proven track record of preparing cost estimates, risk assessments, and controls through the planning and design phases. This position is full-time and requires authorization to work in the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates in-house using software and estimating programs for Design-Build (DB) and Design-Bid-Build (DBB) projects — conceptual and schematic design, design development and construction documents
- Meet with clients and designers to discuss cost repercussions
- Provide technical reviews of project constructability, design and analysis
- Execute change order analyses and reviews
- Conduct electronic take-offs on architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural systems
- Travel 10% — typically once a quarter for short durations (2–5 days)
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience preparing cost estimates and conducting takeoffs independently
- Knowledge of OST, PlanSwift, RSMeans, or other relevant software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply oneself when challenged
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Certified Cost Professional (CCP) certification or equivalent
- Experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal agencies
